Thursday’s Just Got Cool Again with First Thursday’s Free at Participating Milwaukee Museums

Can't wait for the weekend, but it's only Thursday? Don't let the let end of the week anticipation for Friday get the best of you, because Milwaukee museums are making Thursdays cool again, with their "first Thursday free" offer. Every first Thursday of each month participating Milwaukee museums are open free to the public, and there's no catch, other than enjoying yourself while being enriched in the history of Milwaukee through art, culture, and so much more. 

So where can you get in on all of this? 

The Milwaukee Art Museum

Known as Milwaukee's first art gallery, the Milwaukee Art Museum is a historical building with its trademark the 217-foot moveable sunscreen, known as the Calatrava. The museum looks over Lake Michigan and its beautiful glass entry way showcases the lake. However, the real beauty is on the inside. The museum features 12 unique collections with almost 25,000 pieces that date all the way back to 1888. From decorative art to 19th century European art to Folk and self-taught art, these are just some of the great collections you can spend hours viewing, learning about, and be inspired by. In fact, the art museum is open until 8:00 p.m. only on Thursday's leaving you plenty of time to enjoy. The museum also has limited time traveling collections so there is always something new to see. The Milwaukee Public Museum

Established in the late 19th century, The Milwaukee Public Museum takes you back in time. Travel through the streets of old Milwaukee, explore the European village, learn about the ancient Mediterranean civilizations and jump back into the days of the Dinosaur age with an exhibit that features one of the largest dinosaur skulls ever found. This three and a half story museum has something for everyone to enjoy with over 4 million specimens. Make your visit worth it by traveling around the world through Africa, Asia, Europe, The Artic, South and Middle America, the Pacific islands and a Costa Rican rainforest. Lastly Be sure to say hello to the butterflies in the Puelicher Butterfly wing where butterflies fly freely in the same space you roam freely. All these exhibits to see and a whole day to do so. The Museum's hours are 10 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., so make a day out of it for free every first Thursday of the month.
