AMTRAK Amtrak’s Hiawatha service offers numerous daily passenger trains that connect Milwaukee with Amtrak’s regional hub in Chicago. Milwaukee is also served by Amtrak’s Empire Builder, which provides daily service between Chicago, St. Paul/Minneapolis, La Crosse, and Portland/Seattle. The city’s Amtrak station is located at the Milwaukee Intermodal Station, which is located just south of downtown Milwaukee. amtrak.com LAKE EXPRESS FERRY The Lake Express High Speed Ferry links Milwaukee and Muskegon, MI, allowing travelers to avoid the long drive through Chicago. The ferry makes two round trips per day, three during the summer months. lake-express.com H E L P F U L I N F O R M A T I O N A Region of Many Faiths Milwaukee has often been referred to as a City of Steeples and for good reason. The city’s immigrant history created a melting pot of various cultures and faith traditions. Each group formed close-knit communities centered around neighborhood places of worship, with services in their native languages. As a result, a diverse spectrum of denominations has emerged, with more than 1,000 historic and contemporary places of worship. Catholics and Lutherans are the dominant religious denominations. The Lutheran Church is represented by three major synods - the ELCA , the Missouri and Wisconsin . Milwaukee’s east side and north shore is home to a large Jewish population, while the southeast side is home to the Islamic Society of Milwaukee Center .
