Sporting Events
Whether
your interest is baseball, basketball, hockey or soccer, Milwaukee has a professional
team for you. Sporting events attract more than 3 million people annually.
Milwaukee is home
to four full-time professional sports franchises and two NCAA Division
I college basketball teams - the Marquette Golden Eagles and the University
of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Panthers. The Milwaukee Brewers professional
baseball team will moved into Miller Park, its new stadium, in April
2001 and hosted the professional baseball All-Star Game in 2002.
The Milwaukee
Bucks won the eastern division's central conference title in 2001
under coach George Karl. The Milwaukee Admirals are an independent
entry in the International Hockey League, playing their home games at
the Bradley Center, an arena described as one of the finest for ice
hockey in all of North America.
The Milwaukee
Wave provides non-stop professional indoor soccer action from November
through March and won the National Professional Soccer League Championship
in 2000 and 2001.
The Milwaukee
Rampage, the city's professional outdoor soccer team, won the national
championship in 1997and 2002. And just two hours north of Milwaukee,
the Green Bay Packers football team plays at legendary Lambeau
Field.
