Transportation
Milwaukee is served by a modern airport, an excellent highway system and major bus and rail terminals. The city is 93 miles from Chicago, 80 miles from Madison, 277 miles from Indianapolis, 326 miles from the Twin Cities and 511 miles from Pittsburgh.
Interstate 94 connects Milwaukee with Chicago to the south, Madison to the west and the Twin Cities to the northwest. Interstate 43 originates
in Green Bay, crosses through Milwaukee and ends just north of Rockford, Illinois. Interstate 894 bypasses the downtown, routing traffic around the south
and west sides of the city.
Air Transportation
General Mitchell International Airport, which is owned and operated by Milwaukee County, offers nonstop and direct service to 90 cities plus convenient connecting service worldwide. Located just eight miles from the downtown, Mitchell International accommodates more than 500 arrivals and departures daily and 7 million passengers annually and has been rated the third best airport in the nation by frequent flyers. Air transportation at Mitchell is provided by 8 major commercial carriers: Air Canada, America West, Delta, Midwest Airlines, Northwest, AirTran Airways, US 3000 Airways and Frontier Airlines . It is also served by six regional

Midwest Airlines features nonstop service to major destinations throughout the United States and Toronto from Milwaukee; Omaha, Nebraska; and Kansas City, Missouri. Astral Aviation, Inc. Rail Transportation
For the leisure or business traveler, Amtrak has seven daily arrivals and departures between Milwaukee and Chicago. The trains, known as the Hiawathas, also serve suburban Milwaukee with a conveniently located station at General Mitchell International Airport and in Sturtevant. Milwaukee is also served by Amtrak's Empire Builder,

Bus Transportation
Milwaukee County's public transit system has more than 56 local, freeway flyer, park-and-ride and express routes, providing more than 48 million passenger trips annually. Nearly 85 percent of Milwaukee County residents live within one-quarter of a mile of a bus route, making the transit system one of the largest all-bus systems in the United States.
Whether you need to get to O'Hare International Airport or just want to see America by land, odds are there's a bus leaving Milwaukee that is right for you. With more than 40 daily departures from its downtown terminal t 606 N. James Lovell St. (7th Street), Greyhound Bus Lines has direct routes to Chicago, Minneapolis, Stevens Point, Wausau, Green Bay and Eau Claire. Badger Bus and Wisconsin Coach Lines provide in-state service. United Limo provides service to O'Hare International in Chicago.
